![]() ![]() ![]() I was floored to discover that two of my childhood heroes were so very worthy of that status. ![]() Without a second thought, he was willing to toss that money to charity- despite hinting regularly during the talk that he and Timothy weren't doing so hot financially. We'll take the cost of the talk, and the rest will go to the Aaron Allston fund." Just like that. I insisted that they keep it, so Michael went ahead and said, "alright. They both looked at me like I was crazy and asked me if I wanted change, as they were pretty positive that their talk wasn't going to be worth $5, let alone $20. Whatever- I went ahead and deposited a 20 on the table and said that I hoped that covered my cost for the talk. Unfortunately, their first words were that the talk wasn't supposed to be free- you were supposed to pay a few general tokens, or have registered for a ticket, despite what the leaflet I'd received had said. Only about 12 other people had gathered to hear two of the founders of the Star Wars EU speak, so I got to sit right up next to them both and drink in every word. ![]() Surprisingly enough (for me), the room wasn't terribly packed. I, of course, rushed up to the room where they would be speaking and skipped and giggled like a 7-year-old girl. So this last weekend I attended Origins in Columbus at the last second (first ever con), and when looking through the list of seminars, I spotted Timothy and Michael doing a talk on writing in other people's universes that Saturday! And even better, it was free! ![]()
